David Gilmore is an acclaimed American jazz and rhythm guitarist, composer, and bandleader, known for his global sensibility, musical depth, and intuitive feel. His work is guided by a deep reverence for the masters who came before him, a lineage he channels in every performance.

He collaborated closely with the legendary Wayne Shorter, appearing on Shorter’s Grammy Award–winning album High Life (Verve). David’s global soul influences and wide-ranging versatility have led to collaborations with artists such as Ravi Coltrane, Joss Stone, Dave Douglas, Muhal Richard Abrams, Sam Rivers, Steve Coleman, Cassandra Wilson, Don Byron, Uri Caine, Randy Brecker, David Sanborn, Ron Blake, Carolyn Leonhart, and Christian McBride, among many others.

As both a musical thought leader and professor, David approaches rhythm as a language of connection, a living conversation.
